This issue of Wayside Times spotlights our two scholarship recipients.
Tyler Rainer, Marlborough
Position at Wayside: I started in Maintenance, and now I work in the Kid’s Corner at Wayside. The families are great, and I really enjoy the kids.
Plans for fall? I just graduated from Marlborough High School, and plan to attend Williams College in the fall. I’m also going to play soccer in college. I have always loved math and science, so I’m going to study biochemistry, and then go to medical school. Right now, I think I would like to be an oncologist.
What do you like about working at Wayside? I love the atmosphere. The people who work here and the members are amazing.
Dan McCarthy, Marlborough
Position at Wayside: Right now, I’m a lifeguard, and I teach swim lessons. I also do whatever is needed around the club.
Plans for fall? After graduating Marlborough High School, I’m going to study Civil Engineering at UMass Amherst. I want to design buildings and highways. I also hope to study abroad at some point.
What do you like about working at Wayside? I like how you get to know the members during swim lessons, and just hanging out by the pool. Wayside is a really laid back place to work and just “chill.”
